About Us

“Inspire, motivate, heal, understand and connect across all boundaries.” This is truly the embodiment of the Power of Hula. Formally established in the beginning of 2021, Edie Healiʻi and her team sought to bring light, love, positivity, and healing amidst a time of uncertainty during the pandemic of COVID-19. It was their mission to help people around the world to connect, to understand that they were not facing situations alone, and to help them to rediscover their passions on a deeper level so that they could fully express themselves and heal their soul. It would become a creative and safe place for people to come together and share their stories. The Power of Hula is an acronym for a world of self-discovery and a system of reflection to honor and appreciate others.

P – be Passionate

O – keep an Open Mind

W – Work Hard

E – Empower yourself and others

R – Remember your worth

of

H – Heal the soul

U – Understand your purpose

L – Love full-heartedly

A – Appreciate and Honor your foundation

By understanding these distinct aspects, we can focus our attention into discovering our passions and understanding our purpose. We should take the time to fully vest into what we are doing and to uncover the depth behind the stories that we bring to life. Remember to keep an open mind while appreciating and honoring all those who have come before us. Our teachers, mentors, and Kūpuna/Tūpuna (elders) haved paved a pathway for us to build upon by keeping our traditions alive. Love full-heartedly and work hard to focus your efforts into achieving your dreams. When difficult times arise, it is important to remember your worth. By doing so, you can empower yourself and inspire others. Yet through it all, we should remain humble with a pure heart and pure intentions.

In situations where we may find it difficult to verbally articulate our feelings and emotions, we can turn to our passions for the answers. Every Thursday, Edie Healiʻi takes us on a journey to “heal the soul” using her own personal life experiences. Through sharing her struggles and triumphs, we realize that we are not alone. On Instagram live @powerofhula, she discusses all aspects of life, often with special guest appearances, viewer interactions, and ending the broadcast with a hula from the heart. For Edie Healiʻi, dancing hula full heartedly puts her into a trance and allows her to express herself from the depths of her soul.

Holding a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a deep cultural connection to Polynesia, Edieann Healiʻi O Nālani brough the Power of Hula to life. She is the daughter of a kumu hula/raʻatira and plays an active role alongside her family as the Alakaʻi/Artistic Director of Healiʻi’s Polynesian Revue (est. 1967). Edie Healiʻi understands the importance and responsibility of carrying on traditions for future generations and has helped to further enrich the community through unifying workshops and motivational speaking. Edie Healiʻi has been blessed to represent the Polynesian community as a former Miss Pacific Islander, a former Miss Hui O Hawaiʻi and has regularly traveled throughout the world with many of Hawaiʻi’s music legends as the dance soloists. These experiences have allowed her to witness the beauty and necessity for cultural understanding which led her to identify the elements for the “Power of Hula.”
